Successful Magento and Microsoft Dynamics NAV Integration

About Lone Star Distribution

Since its humble beginnings in 1997 to becoming one of the largest distributors in the United States, Lone Star has been known for its customer service, product knowledge, reliability, order accuracy, and competitive pricing.

Business Challenge

Maintaining these high standards became difficult due to their manual process of entering order data into their Dynamics NAV ERP. To overcome this challenge, they partnered with i95Dev to build a seamless, automated, and real-time integration between their Magento eCommerce store and Microsoft Dynamics NAV ERP system, while preserving their existing workflows and processes.

Solution Approach

After thoroughly understanding Lone Star’s requirements and existing processes, default features were mapped to their needs, and necessary customizations were identified and implemented.

B2B Customizations and Order Management

To cater to their B2B requirements, i95Dev implemented custom sales order forms integrated seamlessly with Dynamics NAV. This enabled a smooth transition from manual processes involving emails and Excel-based order handling to a streamlined and automated system. Magento was further customized to support their unique order workflows, including additional approval steps where required.

Sales Team Enablement

Recognizing the critical role of sales personnel, the solution was extended to support advanced B2B functionalities such as Sales Person management (creating, modifying, and assigning sales representatives) and Credit Limits, allowing businesses to place orders on credit.

Additional Customizations

Further enhancements included support for Customer Price Groups and Item Discount Groups in Magento, enabling order edits from NAV to Magento, along with standard integrations such as customers, orders, products, and inventory synchronization between Magento and Dynamics NAV.
