How We Made It Happen

Goals & Challenges
Littlejohn’s legacy platform created friction across several parts of the business:
Key Challenges
- Outdated storefront experience. The existing site could not deliver the performance, responsiveness, or modern UX expected by today’s buyers, limiting Littlejohn’s competitiveness online.
- Limited B2B capability. Recurring business customers had no company accounts, role-based permissions, online bill pay, or self-service ordering — driving manual, phone- and email-based order management for the company’s highest-value accounts.
- Fragmented inventory visibility. Stock across six warehouses had no single, storefront-ready view, creating risk of overselling, underselling, and inconsistent customer experience.
- Catalog complexity beyond platform defaults. A significant share of Littlejohn’s catalog required up to six configurable attributes per product, exceeding Magento’s native configurable product limits.
- Multi-state tax and freight complexity. Accurate tax calculation across states and support for LTL freight, in addition to standard parcel shipping, added operational complexity to checkout.
- SEO continuity risk. Because the engagement involved a fresh platform build rather than a direct migration, protecting existing search rankings required a deliberate, verified SEO transition plan.
Solution: i95Dev’s approach to solving complex eCommerce challenges.
i95Dev delivered a fully re-engineered Magento 2.4.8 platform, addressing each of these challenges as a core design requirement rather than an afterthought.
- Modern technical foundation. A fresh Magento 2.4.8 build on PHP 8.3/8.4, MariaDB 11.4, OpenSearch, and Varnish/Redis caching, deployed across dedicated Development, Staging, and Production environments.
- Catalog architecture extended beyond standard limits. i95Dev’s engineering team extended Magento’s configurable product framework to support up to six product attributes, preserving Littlejohn’s full catalog structure rather than requiring it to be simplified to fit platform defaults.
- Unified, multi-warehouse inventory. Custom sum-of-sources inventory logic aggregates stock from all six warehouse locations into a single, accurate availability figure on the storefront, with in-store pickup enabled at every location.
- Complete B2B self-service suite. Company accounts with role-based permissions, quick order via SKU or CSV upload, tiered and negotiated pricing, online bill pay, RMA, and post-placement order editing — giving B2B customers the self-service capability they expect from modern commerce platforms.
- Streamlined checkout, tax, and fulfillment. A simplified one-page checkout, Vertex tax integration for accurate multi-state calculation, support for PayPal, Amazon Pay, and Paytrace, and shipping logic covering both standard carriers (FedEx/UPS) and complex LTL freight.
- Redesigned storefront experience. A full UI/UX redesign — informed by competitor analysis, wireframing, and visual design — built for responsiveness, accessibility, and reduced checkout friction, supported by more than 25 third-party extensions for search, navigation, and marketing functionality.
- Protected organic search performance. A structured SEO migration plan, including verified 301 redirects, sitemap resubmission, and post-launch monitoring, to preserve search visibility through the platform transition.
